Berrinbah Wetlands in Brisbane had recently been flooded which meant a lot of plastic bottles and rubbish had been swept through this beautiful area, the perfect time to jump in and help out. Matt from Wildlife Queensland did a fantastic job organising with Carlton & United Brewery to get a massive group out for the afternoon. The group was split in 2, with one group planting over 50 new trees and the second group sweeping through the wetlands and park cleaning up the recent debris.
What a fantastic effort from everyone involved. We collected over 10 bags of recyclable material as well as over 10 bags of general waste. Some of the parks clean up items included –
- An old rubbish bin
- 2 tyres
- An inflatable mattress
- A lounge cushion
- Roadwork signage
Plus more than a few surprises!! This is a great area and one we will definitely return too again in the near future for leisure.
